I love bookmarks, though I’ve never been methodical about collecting (or using) them. But I envy the bookmark collection in your pic! I used to have a couple of Strand bookmarks, but lord knows where they are.
PS I’m sure that your great-grandfather was a fine fellow, but I think that he is fundamentally mistaken. It’s not that I don’t remember where I was in the book, it’s that I want to be able to find the page quickly rather than wasting valuable reading time flipping through the pages. My two cents 🤓

He was a physicist, so I think the exactitude of page numbers matched his brain. But I agree that he did not take convenience into account.
