Weekly delights
Week of January 14
January 14:
A good chunk of quality reading time
January 15:
Snuggling with Pippin on the sofa
January 16:
I got to use my giant ice scraper, which dates to 1998 when I moved to Alaska. It is a heavy duty implement, and not used much in Lower Alabama.
Work had a delayed opening, which felt a little festive.
January 17:
I talked books with a friend after work.
We were talking about picking our next book and I mentioned Martyr! because it’s gotten a lot of buzz in my particular circle of the book world, and she looked it up and said, “Oh, it’s Kaveh Akbar! Can we do that one?” This was the easiest book selection in all my book club years.
January 18:
Thin Mints, nuff said
January 19:
My obsessive reading tracker for 2024 calculates the savings you have accumulated by using the library rather than purchasing books. Mine said $316.93, which by book math means I have an extra $316.93 to spend on other books.
As an aside: I once read a personal finance tip to put the cost of a book into savings every time you check a book out of the library, and this tip was not written for poorly compensated power patrons such as myself. For example, this is my current haul of books from the public library. (The books on the side have been read already.) I’d save a lot of money… that I don’t have.
January 20:
I woke up feeling rested, then went to the gym for a personal training session with Caroline.
I took a little writing class. Stretching my brain - delight!
